Soccer coaching strategies has it’s best part in kicking off with the kids in an enjoyable soccer drill. This will have dual benefit of tapping kid’s energy with helping them stay focused on the game.

Guide the kids to first warm up their bodies by going for a small round of jogging or running. Keep a check and see that it’s not overdone. It’s important because kids are full of energy and might fail to identify their limit and thus overexert. Guide them to take small breaks. Kids will therefore stay fresh and ready to go anytime. Next, involve the players in individual or group activities. As an example, make the player who arrives first juggle. The players then join him as they come by. Like this, the entire group does the same activity. If the group becomes large for these soccer coaching drills, make two groups and so on.

There are different activities such as soccer golf where the kids must aim and throw the ball at a distant object. There is another activity called the soccer volleyball in which the kids play in a small area and the idea is not to let the ball touch the ground. These soccer coaching exercises add interest and enjoyment to the practice sessions.

Apart from it, have the players dribble the ball and also use other parts of the body but not hands. Do not be too pushy. Note that they are young and will take their own time to learn. As the player gets ready to handle the ball, shout the name of the body part that the player should use in handling the ball. Then the player has to use that body part only. This makes them attentive and focused.

Another part of exciting drills is circuit training. It is extremely useful with large number of players. It is advisable to divide the players into smaller groups and many tasks. These activities should be carried out continually with only small intervals in between.

Test these instantly. Soccer drills can be great fun if you have the imagination to create new activities every day.

The Players Who Make Chelsea Work

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

When you have a squad that is so packed with talented individuals, it seems churlish to even suggest that there are around four or five players who generally make the team tick. Without these players Chelsea just wouldn’t be on the same level.

1. JOHN TERRY (England, Central defender)

Captaining both Chelsea and England John Terry sets the standard for the other players to adhere to. A tough, uncompromising and brave defender, showing technically sound style and a great amount of skill. Not afraid to lead by example and always managers to be a danger for teams set pieces, John Terry is the perfect choice to captain Chelsea and England.

2. ASHLEY COLE  (England, Left back)

He may be booed roundly by Arsenal fans every time he lines up against the Gunners, although he is still considered by many to be the best left back in the soccer world. His form and confidence has not been consistently great, his quality balls into the box after breakaways down the left side can only be matched by his nack of stopping the worlds best players in their tracks. He is known for keeping players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi quiet in games. That’s no fluke, not many other left backs could do the job.

3. MIKAEL ESSIEN (Ghana, Central midfielder)

Essien’s injury last season showed how sorely he could be missed, even in a midfield that boasts so many outstanding, world class players. Essien balances the team perfectly. He is a technically gifted soccer player with a great work rate and defensive skill. He gets forward at the right time along with a powerful and accurate kicking game from a distance. His role within the team defiantly makes the 24.4 million pounds it cost to transfer him seem like a bargin.

4. FRANK LAMPARD (England, Central Midfielder)

What’s a team without a midfielder who can score plenty of goals? Lampard is one of the best around. He has shown a great return to form under the guidance of Carlo Ancelotti and as a result his goal tally has been increasing dramatically. His willingness to join the attack along with his ability to link with other players in the team make him dangerous up the front.

5. DIDIER DROGBA (Ivory Coast, Attacker)

It is hard to dispute the claim that Didier Drogba is the best striker in the world at the moment. Didier Drogba wearing the Chelsea home soccer jersey makes all goalkeepers fear the upcoming game. The big striker may have his critics, who lambaste his theatrics when he falls over when tackled, or who bristle at his continual insistence to argue with officials and opposition players, but on his day the Ivorian striker is unstoppable. His goal scorring ability and excellent presence are vital for Chelsea, and at times he has carried the team on his back. He alone may end Manchester United’s dominance of the Premier League.

Five world class stars to make up just under half of a world class team.
